The 1975 Start A Protest In A Big Way With ‘People’

The 1975 changes their sound yet again with their newest single ‘People’, a rally cry for what is happening in today’s world. With their most edgy and hardest song to date, ‘People’s style merges the blaring chords and melody from Queens of the Stone Age with the belting vocals from Cage The Elephant.

With the lyrics, Matty Healy rages against streaming culture (“we are appalling and we need to stop just watching shit in bed”), climate change (“it’s Monday morning and we’ve only got a thousand of them left”) and other random things about today’s youth (“Well my generation wanna fuck Barack Obama, living in a sauna, with my legal marijuana” “I don’t like going outside, so bring me everything.”). It’s a change that’ll make current fans scratch their heads but non-current fans perk up with attention.

Either way, everyone will have to wait and see if the rest of album follows suit with the new heavier sound. Notes on a Conditional Form comes out February 21, 2020.
